New OverKnight: Bulwark
Series: Genesis
Archetype: Vanguard
The Bulwark model introduces a new defensive archetype into OverKnights. Built as a scaling juggernaut, it starts with limited attack power but grows stronger as the match progresses. By fully blocking enemy strikes, Bulwark gains overclocks and momentum, turning defense into devastating offense.
Bulwark Parts

- Fortified Fury [Head – Passive]
- When you block with a strike, your next strike this round gains +2 magnitude.
- Uses per round: 2
- Fortified Fury gives the Bulwark a tool to transform defense into offense. You block with a Strike and then your next Strike becomes stronger. Since the overclock condition is to fully block (check the Chest, Juggernaut’s Strike), Bulwark is going to get strikes a bit stronger at the same time it overclocks.

- Shattering Strike [Arms – Active]
- Overclock cost: 1
- Shattering Strike is a cheap Strike, designed to make the opponent think if it’s worth blocking it. Shattering means that a card used to block it is going to be removed from this match, so if the opponent blocks it with a Parrying Strike, they lose it. Since it’s cheap, Bulwark can use it every round.

- Juggernaut’s Strike [Chest – Active]
- Strike 3 and set magnitude to 3.
- Every time you fully block: +1 magnitude and gain 1 Overclock.
- Overclock cost: 3
- Juggernaut’s Strike might sound confusing, but it’s quite strong when used as designed. It starts doing 3 damage, but every time you fully block, aside from getting an overclock, it’s going to do 1 more damage. So if you fully block 2 times, it’s going to Strike 5. It stacks though rounds, so you can for example Strike 20 eventually. If you keep using Shattering Strike every round, you’re going to get more value from this part, since you’re going to need to block more to get more overclock and then it stacks more damage and so on.

- Extended Protection [Back – Passive]
- If you fully block, Repair 1.
- Uses per round: 1
- Extended Protection gives Bulwark a way to make the match last longer, to have more rounds and with that, to block more times and stack more Juggernaut’s Strike. So your opponent is probably going to try to defeat you quickly so you don’t scale that much.

- IronClad [Legs – Active]
- Choose a strike in your hand; it gains +2 capacity.
- Energy cost: 1
- Ironclad also make it easier for Bulwark to overclock, since if you have more capacity, you can block more. It also synergizes with Blade Boost (Glaive`s arms) since it can use the card’s capacity to make the next strike stronger.
Designer Note:
“My goal when designing Bulwark was to create a straightforward strategy with a solid balance between offense and defense. By focusing its parts on direct attacks and abilities that provide durability, Bulwark is easy to play and a great choice for beginners or for players who enjoy an aggressive playstyle with short-term payoff.”
Geovani – Game Designer.
Featured Combos
- Insight + Juggernaut’s Strike
- Cards can be executed or used to block, so more cards means that you can block more. Blocking with Insight, keeping it and executing it to draw 2 cards might be a good way to be able to trigger your overclock condition more often. Also, if you have more cards, you can use Reinforce to give more capacity to more cards you would usually have and well, block more. But don’t let this make you only blocking. If you force your opponent to block, well, they have less cards to attack you! This brings the next combo.
- Parrying Strike + Fortified Fury
- You block with a Parrying Strike and if you keep it, you can even use it to do more damage in your turn. If you don’t strike just after it, you keep it, it stacks until you Strike, but you lose the buff at the end of the round, so make sure to attack at least once per round. You can use this to make it easier to trigger ON HIT and ON DMG effects such as Pulse (when you damage, draw 1), so you trigger it and can block more with the card you just drew.

BUG FIXES
- [BM] Back active VFX fix
- [Battle] Glaive Chest (Critical Strike) not following overclock rules
- [Battle] Can’t use Shielded nor TriClocked
- [Overknights] Glaive glow seems to be different from Arc-Wave and Blitzray
Known Issue*
- Brace Component was disabled with this build
- There is a bug with the Shredding Strikes, currently working similar to the Disarm component – Whenever you damage, the opponent discards 1 card at random.
- This affects both the Shred component as well as Glaive’s Chest part (Critical Strike)
*These issues will be fixed in next week’s build release.
