New OverKnight: Specter

With the help of their drone, the Specter will help you stall your opponent until you have the resources to unleash such a powerful ranged attack, they will have no choice but to defend. To do so, buy yourself time by using your Active abilities, while you gather as many Shield cards as you want in hand to use the Chest, and trigger your Passive abilities to get those Shields back.

SPECTER PARTS:

  • Stockpile [Head – Passive]
    • When you deal ranged damage, Draw 1 Shield card.
    • Uses per round: 1.

Stockpile helps you get the Shield cards that you need while you press into the opponent’s defenses. Start the game by attacking your opponent, and use this Part to build your ideal hand for later in the game. Additionally, Stockpile will also help you in getting the Overclocks necessary to use the Chest.

  • Recoup Defense [Arms – Passive]
    • At the end of the round, Recycle 1 Shield.
    • Uses per round: 1.

Spent all your Shields using your Chest, or had to use a Shield card to protect yourself? Not to worry, you’ll get it back in your MIND at the end of the round. Recoup Defense is here to make sure you’ll never run out of Shield, even if you discard all of them.

  • Calculated Shot [Chest – Active]
    • After activating this part, Discard all Shield cards in hand to deal 6 ranged damage + 4 for each Shield card discarded. For each Reposition action you perform that moves a Shield card to your Hand, gain 1 Overclock.
      • Reposition: the action of moving cards from a zone to another.
    • Overclock Cost: 3.

After many turns, you finally have a handful of Shield cards in hand. Unfortunately, it’s time to see them out. Discard all the Shield cards in your hand, and unleash a powerful attack against your opponent that will certainly leave them unsure of what to do. If you time it right, it could even be a game-ender. Be careful, though, as this will leave you with little left in your hand to defend yourself with, so plan your plays carefully.

  • Ejecting Blast [Back – Active]
    • Ejecting. Deal 5 ranged damage.
      • Eject: When you damage, Return a random card from the opponent’s hand to their MIND.
    • Energy Cost: 3.

Ejecting Blast will help you in buying time, and wasting the opponent’s. If they block or if they don’t they’ll still need to lose a card, meaning you come out victorious either way. By using this part, you also don’t need to use any cards in your hand, meaning you still have ways to use them later, be it with your Chest or by playing the card.

  • Shield Steal [Legs – Active]
    • Transfer the opponent’s Shield to you.
    • Overclock Cost: 1.

You won’t always be able to spend time building your own defenses, so why not just steal your opponent’s? Use Shield Steal to hinder your opponent, save time, and keep your Shield cards to yourself, all at the same time.

COMBO: YIELD INPUT + SHIELD STEAL

Sometimes giving the opponent an advantage isn’t that bad. All you need to do is get it back for yourself. Save an action by adding the Yield (When you play this card, opponent gains 2 Shield points) Input on your cards, and then use Shield Steal to get that Shield back. This way, you’re doing an action while also protecting yourself.

COMBO: DISARM AUGMENT + EJECTING BLAST

If you think your opponent shouldn’t use any cards against you, then go there and take them from their hands. Use Disarm (After you damage the opponent’s Core, the opponent discards 1 random card) together with Specter’s Ejecting Blast to leave your opponent with no cards in their hand, and use that breach for your advantage.
